Before you go

  • Every start area has junior Mining, Herbalism and Skinning trainers. Learn one before you leave: the nodes on your path are free money.

  • Around level 5-6, the quest The Great Outdoors teaches camping. Cooking 1 is all a Basic Campfire needs.

  • Each start zone hides a free bag quest: Book Bag (Elwynn), Canvas Latchbag (Dun Morogh), Soft Saber Sack (Teldrassil).

  • Set your hearthstone in the first town. Walking back is time, and time is gold.

Step by step

Every line comes from one source unless marked: places and quests are checked, the order is our proposal.

Elwynn Forestlevels 1-10

  1. Step 1 — Northshire Abbey (level 1-3)

Welcome to the business, friend. Northshire is small, safe and full of people who need things done. Take every job on the steps of the abbey before you swing at a single wolf.

    • Marshal McBride · 48.8, 41.6 → Follow That Kobold! (and every other quest offered at the abbey)

    • Brother Paxton · 49.4, 40.4 → Rascally Rodents (pick the book of the gathering profession you want)

    Class quests: Hunter
    • Tordrin Sternblade · 51.2, 40.8 → Shhh! We're Hunting Kobolds

Pick a book from Brother Paxton. Reading is free. Not reading costs you later.

  2. Step 2 — Northshire trainers (level 2-4)

Mines, herbs and pelts, friend: the three things people always buy. The junior trainers are all here in the valley.

    • Kelsey Fargo · 47.2, 32.2 → The Big Picture

    • Nancy Songflower · 52.4, 43.8

    • Riley Peltskinner · 47, 39.8

One gathering profession now, a second one later. Two pockets fill faster than one.

  3. Step 3 — Northshire, before you leave (level 5-6)

Done with the abbey? Good. The Marshal has one more letter for you before you walk down the road.

    • Marshal McBride · 48.8, 41.6 → The Adventurer

    • Follow the road south to Goldshire.

Downhill all the way. Nix likes roads that go downhill.

  4. Step 4 — Goldshire (level 6-7)

Goldshire, friend! Cheap beer, cheaper quests, and every one of them pays. Grab them all before you touch a single wolf: walking back twice is walking for free, and I don't do free.

    • Sam Sarsaparilla · 44.8, 63.2 → The Great Outdoors (then Camping 101: Cooking)

    • Marshal Dughan · 42.2, 65.8 → Book Return, Rare Books (Book Return gives the Book Bag; Rare Books lets you pick a green weapon)

    • Remy "Two Times" · 42.2, 67.2 → An Enticing Offer, Baited for Success

    • Jason Mathers · 47.4, 62.2 → A Net Disaster, Slimy Menace, A Man About a Murloc

    • Lee Brown · 47.4, 62.2 → Bottles and Baubles

    • Helene Peltskinner · 46.2, 62.2 → Rough Wolf Pelts

    • Innkeeper Farley · 43.8, 65.8

Set your hearthstone with Farley. Your feet are slow, friend, and that stone is free.

  5. Step 5 — Around Goldshire (level 7-9)

Now we work. Wolves, murlocs and the stream below town: do it all in one loop, then come back with full hands.

    • Goldshire → Brotherhood of Thieves

    • Goldshire givers → Rough Wolf Pelts, A Net Disaster, Bottles and Baubles, Baited for Success, Book Return

Turn everything in at once. One trip, one payday. That's how Nix keeps his teeth shiny.

  6. Step 6 — Eastvale and the east road (level 8-10)

East, friend. Eastvale and the farms past it are full of craftsmen with problems, and problems pay.

    • Kitta Firewind · 64.8, 70.6 → An Enchanting Lesson

    • Blixie Fitzwink · 63.2, 72.6 → Stolen Enchanting Supplies

    • Hamish Bergwort · 65, 69.8 → Delicate Instruments

    • Ormin Pelford · 76.4, 72 → Downstream

    • Hagar Lowe · 82.4, 63.8 → Good Steel

Far east is far from home. Hearth back to Goldshire when your bags are full.

  7. Step 7 — West Elwynn (level 9-10)

One more errand west, then Elwynn is squeezed dry.

    • Sergeant De Vries · 24, 73 → An Apple Treat

    • Goldshire → WANTED: "Hogger" (elite, level 11: bring friends)

Hogger bites. Nix fights only when someone else pays for the bandages. Find a group.

  8. Step 8 — Level 10: class trainers in Goldshire (level 10)

Ten! First talent point, new spells, and for some of you, a class quest. Don't leave town without them.

    • Walk west into Westfall. Your first flight path is Sentinel Hill.

    Class quests: Hunter, Priest
    • Josephine Carson · 41.2, 66.2 → Taming the Beast, Training the Beast (your first pet)

    • Priestess Josetta · 43.4, 65.6 → Divine Grace, Confounding Flash

Elwynn's done, friend. Westfall pays better, and the farmers there are desperate. Desperate means generous.

Done here? Next stop: 10-20

FAQ

Where do I go after Elwynn Forest?
At level 10, walk west into Westfall; its first flight path is at Sentinel Hill. Dwarves and Gnomes go to Loch Modan or Westfall, Night Elves to Darkshore.
When do I get my first flight path?
There is none in Elwynn Forest or Dun Morogh: use Stormwind (Dungar Longdrink) or Ironforge (Gryth Thurden). Night Elves have one in Rut'theran Village (Vesprystus).
When can I do my first dungeon?
Not before level 13: there is no dungeon in the 1-10 zones. The first Alliance one is the Hall of Thanes, under Ironforge, for levels 13-18.
