New in WoW Forever: from level 10, enemies sometimes drop a Waylaid Crate. Fill it with the materials it asks for, take it to your faction's supply camp and you get Merchant's Favor, a currency that buys profession recipes, gear, a pet, a mount, a toy and titles. No profession needed for half the crates.

How it works, step by step

  1. Get a crate. Crates are rare drops from ordinary enemies all over the world, from level 10. You can also buy one at the Auction House (search "crate").
  2. Read the label. Right-click the crate: it turns into one specific shipment, such as Waylaid Crate: Apprentice Ingots.
  3. Pick one bundle. Each crate lists several bundles; one is enough. Example: an Apprentice Ore crate takes 20 Copper Ore or 20 Tin Ore.
  4. Fill it. Right-click the crate again and choose the stack in your bags. It becomes a Sealed crate, bound to you.
  5. Deliver it to your faction's camp (see below) and complete the quest "A Sealed Crate".
  6. Get paid in Merchant's Favor (and a few silver), then spend it at the camp vendors.

Your first crate is a bonus: filling it also gives a Shipping Label. Its one-time quest pays 50 Merchant's Favor and 2,000 reputation. Favor is per character, so do it on every alt.

Reputation

Each camp has its own faction reputation, from Neutral to Exalted (3,000 / 6,000 / 12,000 / 21,000). Better reputation unlocks more recipes and rewards.

  • Shipping Label (first crate): 2,000 reputation, once.
  • Craftsman's Writs: sealed envelopes found in the world or bought at the Auction House. Open one to get a crafting order, bring the item to the customer: 75 (Journeyman) or 125 (Expert) reputation, plus a small coin pouch.
  • Forged Delivery Receipt (Friendly, 15 Favor, from the scribe): use it on an empty crate to make a Notarized Shipping Container, hand it in for 50 reputation.
  • Forger's Quill (Honored, 15 Favor): rerolls a writ you don't want.
  • Do ordinary crate turn-ins also give reputation? Sources disagree.

Goblin tips

  • Cloth from humanoids fills a Textiles crate on any character: no profession, pure profit.
  • Alliance: buy the crate and turn it in on the spot, there's an auctioneer in the camp.
  • The Legacy perk Performance Bonus gives up to a 15% chance of double Favor per turn-in.
  • Most recipe prices and reputation requirements come from one source so far: check the seal before you plan your savings.
