Lower Blackrock Spire is not playable in the beta (level cap 30). The description below comes from pre-launch data (game files and guides) and the original game's version of this dungeon; we check each point in game at launch and update this page.

Who it's for

Groups of 5 (sources disagree, see the FAQ). No key needed to enter.
Both factions: the Valthalak amulet quests. Our source lists the Seal of Ascension chain under the Alliance (a Horde version is to verify), and many other Alliance quests; its Horde list is cut off.
Anyone heading for Upper Blackrock Spire: the key to its door starts here.

The route, in plain words

In the order given by one Forever guide:

Highlord Omokk.
Shadow Hunter Vosh'gajin, then War Master Voone.
Mother Smolderweb.
Urok Doomhowl (summoned with a quest item), then Quartermaster Zigris.
Halycon. When she dies, Gizrul the Slavener comes out.
Overlord Wyrmthalak, the last boss.

Seven rares may show up along the way: Burning Felguard, Spirestone Butcher, Spirestone Battle Lord, Spirestone Lord Magus, Bannok Grimaxe, Crystal Fang and Ghok Bashguud. Other guides give a different order: we check it in game at launch.

The bosses in one line each

Highlord Omokk: knocks players away and enrages. Tank him against a wall, keep cooldowns for the Enrage.
Shadow Hunter Vosh'gajin: Curse of Blood and Hex. Control or kill her troll guards first, remove the curse from the tank.
War Master Voone: Mortal Strike, Cleave, an uppercut knockback, interrupts and a stun. Melee behind him.
Mother Smolderweb: spiderlings, a cone stun (Crystallize) and Mother's Milk, a poison. Don't cure it on the player who has the quest.
Urok Doomhowl: summoned with Warosh's quest. Intimidating Roar fears. Clear the area first.
Quartermaster Zigris: nets, a stun bomb and a healing potion. Pull him into the hallway to avoid adds.
Halycon: kill her pups with area damage, tank her inside the lair.
Gizrul the Slavener: enrages. Infected Bite is a disease: cure it.
Overlord Wyrmthalak: a cone knockback, Cleave and a shout. At half health two elites run up the ramp. Tank him on the wall.
Spirestone Lord Magus (rare): casts Polymorph and Bloodlust. Kill him first.

Quests to grab before you go

Take these before entering, or you'll run it twice:

Inside the dungeon: Seal of Ascension (Vaelan). Bring the three gemstones (Spirestone from Omokk, Smolderthorn from Voone, Bloodaxe from Wyrmthalak) and an Unadorned Seal of Ascension found in the spire. Part two sends you to Emberstrife in the Wyrmbog, Dustwallow Marsh. The result opens the Upper Blackrock Spire door.
Morgan's Vigil, Burning Steppes (Alliance): Maxwell's Mission (Marshal Maxwell: Voone, Omokk, Wyrmthalak) and Put Her Down (Helendis Riverhorn: Halycon). Wyrmthalak drops General Drakkisath's Command, which leads to Upper Blackrock Spire.
Flame Crest, Burning Steppes (Alliance): Kibler's Exotic Pets and En-Ay-Es-Tee-Why (Kibler), Mother's Milk (Ragged John).
Inside the dungeon (Alliance): Urok Doomhowl (Warosh) and Bijou's Belongings (Bijou).
Burning Steppes (both): Left and Right Piece of Lord Valthalak's Amulet (Bodley). You summon and kill Mor Grayhoof with the Brazier of Beckoning, twice.
Kargath, Badlands (Horde): a quest hub (Warlord Goretooth, Galamav, Lexlort). Our source's list stops here: to verify.

Watch out

Omokk's Enrage and Wyrmthalak's two elites at half health.
Mother's Milk: the quest holder must keep the poison.
Halycon's death spawns Gizrul.
Ghok Bashguud sleeps with two guards before the bridge to Wyrmthalak.
Summons: Meeting Stones can't summon in Forever; a warlock can summon at the top of the mountain (one source).
Loot not final: one source says 58 boss drops from the original game are missing from the Forever item database, though still in the game files.
Experience: the extra dungeon-quest experience was halved on Oct 1; kill experience was raised by about 20% on Oct 8 (one source).
