FAQ

Do you need an attunement for Onyxia in WoW Forever?: Yes. The developers confirmed that Onyxia's Lair keeps its attunement: a long quest chain that ends with the Drakefire Amulet, which you keep in your bags.
Is the Onyxia attunement account-wide in WoW Forever?: No, it is per character, at least at launch. Each character who wants to enter needs its own Drakefire Amulet.
How do you start the Onyxia attunement as Horde?: Talk to Warlord Goretooth in Kargath, Badlands, for Warlord's Command. The chain then goes through Blackrock Spire, Thrall, Rexxar in Desolace and Emberstrife in Dustwallow Marsh. Steps still to verify in game.
How do you start the Onyxia attunement as Alliance?: Talk to Helendis Riverhorn in south-east Burning Steppes for Dragonkin Menace. The chain then goes through Stormwind, Blackrock Depths with Marshal Windsor and Haleh in Winterspring. Steps still to verify in game.
What level do you need for the Onyxia attunement?: The Alliance chain starts at level 48, the Horde chain at 55. Plan to finish around 58-60: both end in Upper Blackrock Spire, and the Drakefire Amulet requires level 50.
When does Onyxia's Lair open in WoW Forever?: December 9, 2026, with the other launch raids. Onyxia's Lair is a 40-player raid in Dustwallow Marsh.
Is Onyxia a 40-man raid in WoW Forever?: Yes, Onyxia's Lair is a 40-player raid. The Barrow Deeps (10 players) and Hyjal Summit (20) open the same day and have no attunement chain.
