Raids open on December 9, 2026. Until then, this page combines pre-launch announcements with the original Classic raid; we update it with Forever data when the raid opens.
Who it's for
Level 60 raid groups of 40 players, Alliance or Horde. In the original game, each faction has its own attunement chain (to verify in Forever).
The only raid of the first wave that is not new: it opens alongside the Barrow Deeps (10 players) and Hyjal Summit (20 players).
One source says Blizzard keeps it unchanged (to verify).
Getting in
Attunement: a long quest chain, per character, not account-wide at least at launch. Developers said so on the podcast (episode 3), as reported by media (to verify). One older article said no launch raid needs an attunement; the podcast reports came later. Full steps: Onyxia attunement guide.
The key: the Drakefire Amulet is in the WoW Forever item database. In the original raid it works from your bags, not equipped (to verify).
Size: 40 players.
Opening date: December 9, 2026 (December 10 local time in Korea, Taiwan, China and Australia). Hour not announced.
Where: the Wyrmbog, in the south of Dustwallow Marsh. Coordinates disagree (52.3, 76.1 or 56, 71): to verify.
Group Finder: one source says the raid is open in the Group Finder from level 60 (to verify).

The bosses in one line each
Onyxia (the only boss): in the original raid she fights in three phases, on the ground, then in the air with whelp waves and Deep Breath, then on the ground again with fears and lava cracks. Forever tuning is unknown.
Watch out
Original-raid tips, to verify in Forever:
She can't be taunted: the tank rebuilds threat with abilities, and DPS hold back at the start and around the phase changes.
Keep her facing away from the raid: her breath hits the front, her tail hits the back, her wings knock players back.
Eggs hatch when you get close to them.
Deep Breath crosses the room during the air phase: spread out.
Fire resistance: the original raid asks for it, and the Drakefire Amulet gives +15. One developer relay says the opening tier is unlikely to need crafted resistance gear (to verify).
