How to queue: walk to a battlemaster

You can't queue from anywhere. In the beta there is no queue button: you join a battleground by talking to a battlemaster NPC. Players have asked Blizzard for a button; there's been no answer yet, so this could still change at launch.

  1. Reach the level: Warsong Gulch 10, Arathi Basin 20, Darkspear Islands 30, Alterac Valley 51.
  2. Go to a battlemaster. Each battleground has its own battlemaster in every capital of your faction (list below).
  3. Join the queue alone or with your group (the group leader queues everyone).
  4. Go about your business while you wait, then accept the pop-up when your match is ready.
  5. After the match you're sent back to where you accepted the queue (players' reports).

Darkspear Islands has a shortcut: each faction has a forward base in The Barrens with a portal into the battle. Horde: Merchant Coast, near Ratchet (65.0, 34.4). Alliance: Northwatch (63.4, 58.6).

Teams mix players from the Normal, PvP and RP rulesets (Hardcore apart), but you can't group with a friend from another ruleset.

Where to queue

No queue button in Forever: talk to a battlemaster. Your faction's capitals first.

Rewards

  • Marks of Honor: every battleground gives its own mark: 3 for a win, 1 for a loss, 30 of each at most (was 20 before the October 15 patch; item tooltips may still say 20, to verify in game). Marks buy rare PvP pieces together with Honor, and reputation quests take them.
  • Honor and rank: each match gives Honor and Rank Points, rebalanced in Forever so Alterac Valley isn't the only efficient choice. Amounts per match are not published yet. Ranks and their rewards: PvP ranks.
  • Reputation: each battleground has its own reputation pair. Exalted with one battleground reputation gives 1 Legacy point.

Good to know

  • No source mentions a Deserter penalty for leaving early yet.
  • Battle for Gilneas exists in the game files only: it is not announced.
  • Maps: we're drawing our own, from the game files.

"Win or lose, you walk away with marks. A goblin never leaves a battlefield empty-handed."
