How it works
BlizzardFrom Blizzard's article How PvP Progression in World of Warcraft: Forever Works (October 7, 2026).
- Two currencies: Honor buys gear; Rank Points fill your rank bar. They are separate: spending Honor never lowers your rank.
- Honor comes from killing enemy players, battlegrounds and PvP quests. Rank Points come from battlegrounds and PvP quests. Honor per battleground was rebalanced so every map is worth playing, not only Alterac Valley.
- Holiday weeks: the highlighted battleground of the week gives bonus Honor and bonus Rank Points.
- Weekly cap: rank progress is capped each week. Blizzard has not given the numbers (beta values below).
- Seasons: ranks and Honor are earned during a PvP season. Each season has a track of weekly tasks; three of them also give 1 Legacy point each. These tasks belong to the Legacy system, so they stay available in later seasons.
- Gear: Honor buys a blue set and an epic set. An epic piece = the blue piece + an Emboldened Seal, and seals are rank-gated. Specs that lacked PvP gear get new or reworked pieces: Shaman now have a healer, a melee and a caster set (PvP vendors).
- Honor cap: 25,000 since the 1 Oct beta update (it was 15,000).
- Your rank, points and the rewards you can buy are in the character pane (C), Player vs. Player tab.

Points: needed from the previous rank. Total: from rank 1. Earliest: the first season week the cap lets you reach it.
Not published by Blizzard: these values come from the beta client and can change at launch.
- No ladder: your rank depends only on your own points, not on other players.
- No weekly decay inside a season, according to the guides (Blizzard has not said).
- Rank Points and Honor per match, per win or loss, or per quest: not published yet.
