What Legacy is

Legacy is WoW Forever's account-wide progression. You complete challenges on any character, each one gives one Legacy point, and the points belong to your whole Battle.net account. Each character then spends them on its own perks, small quality-of-life bonuses, never raw power.

  • Points are shared by the account; each character builds its own perk set.
  • At launch a character can spend 16 points.
  • Legacy opens with your first point, usually when a character reaches level 25. Open the panel with the shield icon or the Y key.
  • Perks are changed at your class trainer in a major city.

How to earn points

There are 65 challenges at launch, one point each:

  • Classes (27): reach level 25, 45 and 60 with each of the 9 classes.
  • Tradeskills (18): reach 150, 225 and 300 in Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Enchanting, Engineering, Leatherworking and Tailoring (professions).
  • PvP (12): PvP ranks, Exalted with the battleground reputations, and Field of Honor season milestones.
  • Adventure (2): explore the whole world map on one character, and finish the Lord Valthalak questline.
  • Dungeons (3) and raids (3): final bosses of every dungeon in each level band, then Onyxia, Hyjal Summit and Barrow Deeps (raids open on December 9, 2026).

A single character can earn about 29 points without any alt. Challenges done on Normal, PvP or RP don't count on Hardcore, but Hardcore challenges count everywhere.

The three trees

  • Professions: faster skill-ups, more rare gathering materials, cheaper vendor goods (no longer class training or repairs since October 15), extra cooking and fishing results.
  • Adventure: faster rested XP and a higher rested cap (Well Rested, see every XP bonus), talent points earlier (Talented, used by the talent calculator), cheaper and faster flights.
  • Resourcefulness: longer food buffs, less durability loss on death, more honor and reputation, no vendor reagents for class spells.

Most perks need 5 points spent in their tree first; the three one-rank perks need 10. Each tree also hides two perks that Blizzard hasn't revealed yet.

Rewards

Legacy rewards track the total points your account has earned, wherever you spent them. Claim them from Innkeeper Wiley in Ratchet: a toy at 15 points, the Spectral Bear Cub pet at 25, a tabard at 40 and the Spectral Bear mount at 55.

FAQ

How do you earn Legacy points?
By completing Legacy challenges: 65 at launch, one point each, such as reaching level 25, 45 and 60 with each class. One character alone can earn about 29 points; the rest come from alts, professions, PvP, dungeons and raids.
How many Legacy points can a character spend?
16 at launch. Points earned beyond that are not wasted: rewards count every point your account has earned, up to the Spectral Bear mount at 55 points, claimed from Innkeeper Wiley in Ratchet.
Can you reset your Legacy perks?
Yes, at your class trainer in a major city, where you also change talents. Points belong to your Battle.net account, and each character keeps its own perk choices.
