How dungeons pay in WoW Forever

  • Dungeon quests give extra XP on top of normal quest XP. Since the October 1 beta build, that extra is half of what it was; normal quest XP did not change. Announced by Blizzard
  • Dungeon mobs give little XP. The October 8 beta build raised it by about 20%, but quests still pay more. Announced by Blizzard
  • Quests can be done once. A second run only pays kill XP.
  • Several dungeon quest rewards went from blue to green on October 8, with their stats adjusted. Announced by Blizzard

The prepared run

  1. Collect every quest of the dungeon before you go: in town, from breadcrumb quests, and from items that start a quest. Each dungeon page lists them.
  2. Share quests with your group at the entrance.
  3. Clear once, turn everything in.
  4. Run it again only for loot.

Group rule

  • If one member is far above the mobs' level, nobody gets XP from kills (since October 8). Don't drag your level-30 friend into a level-15 dungeon. Announced by Blizzard

FAQ

Are dungeons good XP in WoW Forever?
Mostly through their quests. Dungeon quests give extra XP on top of normal quest XP; mobs give less. The first clear with every quest is the one that pays.
Why did my group get no XP in a dungeon?
Since the October 8 beta build, if one group member is far above the mobs' level, nobody gets XP from kills. Group with players near your level.
Is it worth running a dungeon twice?
For loot, yes. For XP, rarely: quests can only be done once, and repeat runs only pay kill XP.
