What it is

  • Booty Bay Bruiser's Buckshot: a new rare gun of WoW Forever, binds when picked up, item level 35, requires level 30.
  • 35-66 damage, speed 2.80 (18.0 damage per second), +3 Stamina, Equip: +9 Attack Power.
  • It used to have a Use effect that knocked the target away, with a 10-minute cooldown. Blizzard removed it: today it is a plain level 30 gun. Announced by Blizzard
  • Worth a look for the classes that shoot guns at level 30: hunters, warriors and rogues.

How to get it

  1. Reach Honored with Booty Bay. Booty Bay is a neutral town: Alliance and Horde can both buy the gun.
  2. Find Gezzy Gunkgear, the Booty Bay Quartermaster, on the Booty Bay docks in the south of Stranglethorn Vale: /way Stranglethorn Vale 28.2 74.8
  3. Buy the gun: 3 g 10 s 88 c before the discount, about 2 g 80 s at Honored.

Reaching Honored with Booty Bay

Quests in Booty Bay and Ratchet, and killing pirates, raise your standing. Exact numbers for WoW Forever are not published yet. According to one guide:

  • Booty Bay, Ratchet, Gadgetzan and Everlook share their reputation: what you earn with one also counts in part for the others.
  • The Booty Bay quests, mostly on the docks, are for levels 30 to 44. They lower your standing with the Bloodsail Buccaneers.
  • Southsea pirates on the Merchant Coast of The Barrens, levels 12 to 15, around /way The Barrens 63.0 46.5
  • Venture Co. in northern Stranglethorn Vale, levels 34 to 38, around /way Stranglethorn Vale 40.0 17.0

The story

  • In early October, French streamer Payo used the gun's knockback on other players in the beta: off a ship's deck at the Cape of Stranglethorn and into the sea, off piers and off cliffs. His video: Payo on YouTube.
  • A few days later, Blizzard removed the knockback. Announced by Blizzard (Development Notes, October 8)

Good to know

  • Beta data: the in-game price at Honored (about 2 g 80 s) comes from one player; the base price is in the game data. We will check both in game at launch.
