Not confirmed yetAt a glance
Arugal's castle in Silverpine Forest: 8 bosses and plenty of worgen. Corridors and stairs, so pull carefully.
Worgen, restless guards and an archmage at the top who wants a word. Keep your back to a wall and your loot bag open.
Who it's for
- Horde players: all three dungeon quests are Horde quests, from Undercity and Silverpine Forest.
- Alliance players can come for the loot, but get no dungeon quests (one class quest for Paladins).
- Class quests also run through here for Warlocks, Rogues and Alliance Paladins.
The route, in plain words
- Rethilgore. Killing him opens the courtyard door. Deathstalker Adamant opens the gate after him; Deathstalker Vincent is in the courtyard.
- The Stables. Three horses (Fel Steed and Shadow Chargers) pull together.
- Razorclaw the Butcher, Baron Silverlaine, Commander Springvale, Odo the Blindwatcher, in that order.
- The corridor after Odo. The Deathsworn Captain, a rare boss, may spawn here.
- Fenrus the Devourer (the Book of Ur is in his room), then Wolf Master Nandos, then Archmage Arugal.
Three beta sources give this same order; we check it in game at launch.
The bosses in one line each
- Rethilgore: interrupt his Soul Drain on the tank. Clear the worgen on the floor above first.
- The three horses: they all come when one is attacked. Control or off-tank one.
- Razorclaw the Butcher: a small room, avoid the patrols. The healer heals through his drain on the tank.
- Baron Silverlaine: remove his Veil of Shadow (-75% healing received). Sources disagree on whether it can be interrupted.
- Commander Springvale: interrupt his Holy Light. Keep the healer more than 5 yards from the Wailing Guardsman's silence. Sources disagree on which add dies first.
- Odo the Blindwatcher: the tank keeps his two bats off the group. One source says he hits harder as his health drops: save cooldowns for under half health.
- Deathsworn Captain (rare): comes with two adds. Face him away from the group (Cleave).
- Fenrus the Devourer: at half health he summons four Voidwalkers, and they stay after he dies.
- Wolf Master Nandos: pull the room's worgs separately. Kill the worgs he summons fast.
- Archmage Arugal: break line of sight on his Void Bolt with walls and corners. He teleports around the room. His curse turns a player against the group; sources describe it differently (to verify).
Quests to grab before you go
Take these before entering, or you'll run it twice:
- Undercity (Keeper Bel'dugur): The Book of Ur. The book is in Fenrus' room. One source gives a different spot for the giver (to verify).
- Silverpine Forest: Deathstalkers in Shadowfang (High Executor Hadrec) and Arugal Must Die (Dalar Dawnweaver).
- Class quests: Warlock The Orb of Soran'ruk (Doan Karhan, The Barrens), Rogue The Horn of Xel'thos (Dead Drop, Silverpine Forest, solo), Alliance Paladin The Test of Righteousness (Jordan Stilwell, Dun Morogh; the hammer is in the Stables).
- Level: most sources say 16-18 to pick up the Horde quests; one shows 25-27 (to verify).
Watch out
- The horses all pull together.
- Fenrus' Voidwalkers don't vanish when he dies.
- Healers and Springvale: stay out of the Guardsman's silence.
- Experience: in the beta, most dungeon experience comes from quest turn-ins; kill experience was raised by about 20% on Oct 8.
FAQ
- Where is the Shadowfang Keep entrance in WoW Forever?
- In Silverpine Forest, up a ramp near the Greymane Wall in the south of the zone (one source). Sources give almost the same coordinates (about 44.5, 68.0); we check the exact spot in game at launch.
- What level should you be for Shadowfang Keep?
- Beta sources give four different ranges (18-25, 20-26, 20-30, 22-30). Two sources agree on level 18 for the Group Finder; minimum entry is 11 or 14 depending on the source. We confirm in game at launch.
- Can the Alliance run Shadowfang Keep?
- Yes, but the three dungeon quests are Horde quests. The only Alliance quest listed is the Paladin class quest. The trip is long for the Alliance: boat from Menethil Harbor to Southshore, then a long walk (one source).
- What is the last boss of Shadowfang Keep?
- Archmage Arugal. Killing him is the goal of the Horde quest Arugal Must Die.
