At a glance

A flooded temple on Ashenvale's coast, reached by a swim. 7 bosses; watch your breath underwater.

Sunken ruins, naga, cultists and something big waiting at the bottom. Hold your breath, kid: the loot won't swim to you.

Who it's for

  • Alliance players: quests from Ironforge, Darnassus and Darkshore.
  • Horde players: quests from Je'neu Sancrea in Ashenvale.
  • Both: Blackfathom Villainy, picked up inside the dungeon.
  • Getting there (one source): Alliance fly to Astranaar and go north-west; Horde fly to Zoram'gar Outpost and go north.

The route, in plain words

  1. Ghamoo-ra, the first boss.
  2. Lady Sarevess, in an underwater cave south-west of Ghamoo-ra, with a hidden entrance.
  3. Gelihast (optional) in the murloc room, then Lorgus Jett (optional), who patrols the corridor after him.
  4. The Twilight's Hammer sanctum. Old Serra'kis (optional) is hidden deep underwater below it; Twilight Lord Kelris is inside.
  5. The Fire of Aku'mai. Light the four braziers one at a time, fight each wave, then face Aku'mai.

Two beta sources agree on this order; we check it in game at launch.

The bosses in one line each

  • Ghamoo-ra: high armor, armor reduction helps. Stay out of his Trample and face him away from the group.
  • Lady Sarevess: control one of her two naga guards. Spread out for her Forked Lightning and dispel her Frost Nova.
  • Gelihast (optional): pull the murlocs one by one. Blessing of Freedom frees the tank from his Net. The altar behind him gives a small buff after he dies.
  • Lorgus Jett (optional): his Lightning Shield hurts melee: purge or dispel it.
  • Old Serra'kis (optional): no notable abilities (one source says it heals itself); the main issue is breath. Bring Water Breathing or Unending Breath.
  • Twilight Lord Kelris: his Sleep hits players near him, so someone must be ready to tank until the tank wakes up. Sources disagree on whether his Mind Blast can be interrupted.
  • Aku'mai: heavy damage on the tank, defensives ready for Frenzied Rage. Move out of the Poison Cloud and cleanse the poison.
  • Baron Aquanis: summoned by a Horde quest object. Sources disagree on whether he is in this version of the dungeon (to verify).

Quests to grab before you go

Take these before entering, or you'll run it twice:

  • Ironforge (Gerrig Bonegrip), Alliance: Knowledge in the Deeps: an underwater chest north of Ghamoo-ra. Sources disagree on its level (10 or 18).
  • Darnassus, Alliance: In Search of Thaelrid (Dawnwatcher Shaedlass), which leads to Blackfathom Villainy, and Twilight Falls (Argent Guard Manados). One source says the Horde can also take In Search of Thaelrid (to verify).
  • Darkshore (Gershala Nightwhisper), Alliance: Researching the Corruption. It may take several runs.
  • Inside the dungeon, both factions: Blackfathom Villainy (Argent Guard Thaelrid): kill Kelris and bring his head.
  • Ashenvale (Je'neu Sancrea), Horde: The Essence of Aku'Mai, Allegiance to the Old Gods (kill Lorgus Jett) and Amongst the Ruins (the Fathom Core, which summons Baron Aquanis). His drop starts Baron Aquanis. Whether these Aquanis quests are in this version is to verify.
  • Class quests: Warlock The Orb of Soran'ruk (Doan Karhan, The Barrens) and Paladin Seeking the Kor Gem (Darkshore for the Alliance, Ashenvale for the Horde).
  • One source lists quests to do outside first: Trouble in the Deeps (Stonetalon) and the optional The Corruption Abroad (Stormwind) (to verify).

Watch out

  • Breath: much of the dungeon is underwater. One source says the breath meter lasts longer in Forever (to verify).
  • The brazier waves: light them one at a time; each one spawns a wave.
  • Rot Root Summoners cast Mana Burn: interrupt them (one source).
  • Experience: in the beta, most dungeon experience comes from quest turn-ins; kill experience was raised by about 20% on Oct 8.

FAQ

Where is the Blackfathom Deeps entrance in WoW Forever?
In north-west Ashenvale, at Zoram Strand. You swim in through sunken night elf ruins and a narrow cave with elite naga. Sources give different coordinates, so we check the exact spot in game at launch.
What level should you be for Blackfathom Deeps?
Three beta sources say 24-32, one says 22-28. Sources agree on entry from level 15 and the Group Finder from level 22. We confirm the range in game at launch.
Can both factions run Blackfathom Deeps?
Yes. Both get dungeon quests: the Alliance from Ironforge, Darnassus and Darkshore, the Horde from Je'neu Sancrea in Ashenvale. Blackfathom Villainy is open to both.
What is the last boss of Blackfathom Deeps?
Aku'mai. After Twilight Lord Kelris, you light four braziers one at a time, each one brings a wave of mobs, and that opens the way to Aku'mai.
