Stormwind's prison: a T-shaped cell block, 5 bosses and a rare, cleared in any order. Made for the Alliance.
A whole prison of Defias crooks in full riot, right under the city. Somebody has to calm them down. Might as well be you.
Who it's for
- Alliance players: all six dungeon quests are Alliance quests, from Stormwind, Redridge Mountains, Duskwood and the Wetlands.
- Horde players can enter, but get no quests, and the trip is hard, especially on PvP servers.
The route, in plain words
- The first corridor. Targorr the Dread is here. The prison is T-shaped, with two wings after this.
- The right wing. Kam Deepfury, two rooms deep. Then Hamhock, in the middle of the far main room with two Defias. Bazil Thredd is in the furthest room.
- The left wing. Dextren Ward at the end.
- The rare. Bruegal Ironknuckle doesn't show up on every run. Sources disagree on where: the left hallway toward Dextren, or any room.
The two wings can be cleared in any order. Sources disagree on boss order; we check it in game at launch.
The bosses in one line each
- Targorr the Dread: fast dual-wielder with extra attacks, and he enrages at low health (30% or 20%, sources disagree). Kill the Defias adds first.
- Kam Deepfury: his Shield Slam stuns the tank. Kill the adds first.
- Hamhock: Chain Lightning (interrupt it, spread out) and Bloodlust on himself and his adds. Kill or control the guards first.
- Bazil Thredd: his Smoke Bomb stuns everyone near him for 4 seconds. Ranged stay away; while the tank is stunned, he turns on the next player. Clear the side rooms first.
- Dextren Ward: Intimidating Shout fears the group. Clear the rooms around him and pull him away from them.
- Bruegal Ironknuckle (rare): no special abilities, the adds are the real danger.
Quests to grab before you go
Take these before entering, or you'll run it twice:
- Stormwind (Warden Thelwater): Quell the Uprising and The Stockade Riots. The Riots come from the chain that starts with An Unsent Letter, dropped by Edwin VanCleef in the Deadmines.
- Stormwind (Old Town): The Color of Blood. The bandanas don't drop every time.
- Redridge Mountains (Lakeshire): What Comes Around..., for Targorr's head.
- Duskwood (Darkshire): Crime and Punishment, for Dextren Ward's hand.
- Wetlands (Dun Modr): The Fury Runs Deep, for Kam Deepfury's head. Finish The Dark Iron War first.
Quest levels differ a lot between sources (one source lists 25-29 where the others list 16-22): to verify.
Watch out
- Bazil's Smoke Bomb stuns the whole group if you stand close.
- Dextren's fear hits the whole group: clear the rooms around him and pull him away from them.
- Experience: in the beta, dungeon quests give more experience than kills; kill experience was raised by about 20% on Oct 8.
FAQ
- Where is the Stockade entrance in WoW Forever?
- In Stormwind City, in the Mage Quarter, by the canals. Sources give different coordinates (39.6, 53.9 or around 42, 58), so we check the exact spot in game at launch.
- What level should you be for the Stockade?
- Sources disagree: 24-32, 25-29, 24-30 or 22-30. Sources agree on entry from level 15 and the Group Finder from level 23. We confirm the range in game at launch.
- Can the Horde run the Stockade?
- Horde players can enter, but the dungeon is built for the Alliance: all six quests are Alliance quests. Getting there as Horde is hard, especially on PvP servers.
- What is the last boss of the Stockade?
- It depends on your route. The prison has two wings you can clear in any order: Bazil Thredd waits at the end of the right wing, Dextren Ward at the end of the left. Guides disagree on which one counts as last.
