A short lava cavern under Orgrimmar's Cleft of Shadow: 4 bosses, tight packs of cultists and troggs. Built for the Horde; the Alliance's answer is the Hall of Thanes.
Lava, cultists and troggs, right under the capital. Smells like opportunity. Also like sulfur.
Who it's for
- Horde players: all the dungeon quests are Horde quests, from Thunder Bluff, Undercity and Orgrimmar.
- Alliance players can enter, but get no quests here. Their counterpart is the Hall of Thanes.
The route, in plain words
- The first hallway. Oggleflint is on the right path (one source). Maur Grimtotem's corpse is next to him, for the satchel quest.
- The central chamber. Taragaman waits on the middle platform, surrounded by lava.
- The last room. Jergosh is in the middle, Bazzalan is up the ramp on the right.
The cavern winds, with a couple of side paths and tight packs of cultists, troggs and demons (one source). One site lists a Molten Elemental as the first boss; the other sources start with Oggleflint, and one of them calls the elemental trash. We check it in game at launch.
The bosses in one line each
- Oggleflint: only a Cleave: face him away from the group. Sources disagree on whether he has two adds or you just risk pulling extra troggs.
- Taragaman the Hungerer: his Uppercut can throw the tank into the lava: tank him in the middle of the platform. Ranged and healers stay out of his Fire Nova.
- Jergosh the Invoker: two adds come with him. Remove his Immolate and Curse of Weakness. Sources disagree on kill order and on interrupting versus dispelling.
- Bazzalan: two adds come with him, control them if you can. Healers cleanse his poison on the tank. Sources disagree on whether he or his adds die first.
Quests to grab before you go
Take these before entering, or you'll run it twice:
- Thunder Bluff (Rahauro, Elder Rise): Testing an Enemy's Strength and Searching for the Lost Satchel. The satchel you find inside starts Returning the Lost Satchel, turned in to Rahauro.
- Undercity (Varimathras): The Power to Destroy..., from items dropped by Searing Blade Cultists and Warlocks.
- Orgrimmar, Cleft of Shadow (Neeru Fireblade): Slaying the Beast: kill Taragaman and bring his heart.
- Orgrimmar, Valley of Wisdom (Thrall): Hidden Enemies: kill Jergosh and Bazzalan. It needs a Lieutenant's Insignia first, from Burning Blade mobs in the Razor Hill cavern. Sources disagree on how long the chain is (to verify).
- Level: most sources say you can pick these up at level 9; one shows 15-16 (to verify).
Watch out
- Lava: keep the tank away from the edges at Taragaman.
- Searing Blade Enforcers can chain-stun with Shield Slam (one source).
- Searing Blade Warlocks come with a Voidwalker: pull them around a corner (one source).
- Experience: in the beta, most dungeon experience comes from quest turn-ins; kill experience was raised by about 20% on Oct 8.
