Frost Blast: the new cheap slow at level 24

What it does

• New spell, added in the October 15 beta update.
• Learned at level 24 from your Mage trainer.
• 1.5 sec cast, 30 yard range, 40 mana.
• Deals low Frost damage (the database tooltip shows 28 to 31) and slows movement by 40% for 9 sec.

Why it exists

• Blizzard's notes: it provides the functionality formerly granted by Rank 1 Frostbolt.
• Frostbolt still slows too. Compare at level 24: Frostbolt rank 4 (level 20) costs 65 mana, casts in 2.6 sec and slows for 7 sec; Frost Blast costs 40 mana, casts in 1.5 sec and slows for 9 sec.

Good to know

• The October 15 notes also list Frost Blast in the Winter's Chill talent, next to Frostbolt.
• Improved Frostbolt and Arctic Reach may also affect it: to verify.
• Ranks 2 and 3 exist in the game data. Above level 30: Not known yet, the beta stops at level 30.

Goblin tips

• Need a slow and nothing else? Frost Blast does it with a short cast and a long slow.
• Save Frostbolt's mana for damage, and use Frost Blast to keep a chaser slowed.
