A troll city in the middle of the desert. Hot sand, cold welcome, and loot that's worth the sunburn.

Classic data — updated at Forever's launch

Zul'Farrak is not playable in the beta (level cap 30). The description below comes from pre-launch data (game files and guides) and the original game's version of this dungeon; we check each point in game at launch and update this page.

Who it's for

  • Groups of 5.
  • Most quest givers are in Gadgetzan and elsewhere in Tanaris; our sources don't mark most of them by faction.
  • Nekrum's Medallion is Alliance only in one guide (to verify).

The route, in plain words

The dungeon is a circular hub: you can take the bosses in the order you like.

  • Around the city: Hydromancer Velratha, Antu'sul, Theka the Martyr and Witch Doctor Zum'rah.
  • Gahz'rilla (optional): summoned at a gong next to his pool. In the original game this needed the Mallet of Zul'Farrak.
  • The Pyramid event: it ends with Nekrum Gutchewer and Shadowpriest Sezz'ziz, and opens the way to Chief Ukorz Sandscalp.
  • Chief Ukorz Sandscalp, the last boss.

The original game also had the Sergeant Bly event and several rares (Zerillis, Sandarr Dunereaver, Dustwraith). Whether they are in Forever is unknown.

The bosses in one line each

  • Hydromancer Velratha: drops the Second Mosh'aru Tablet and the Tiara of the Deep, both quest items.
  • Gahz'rilla (optional): knocks players back: stand against a wall.
  • Antu'sul: heals himself, pulls when you get close, and keeps summoning basilisk servants.
  • Theka the Martyr: drops the First Mosh'aru Tablet.
  • Witch Doctor Zum'rah: Healing Wave and Shadow Bolt. Open too many graves and zombies spawn.
  • Nekrum Gutchewer: end of the Pyramid event, with Sezz'ziz. Drops Nekrum's Medallion.
  • Shadowpriest Sezz'ziz: heals and casts Psychic Scream.
  • Chief Ukorz Sandscalp: Cleave and Enrage. Keep him facing away from the group.

Quests to grab before you go

Take these before entering, or you'll run it twice:

  • Gadgetzan, Tanaris: Scarab Shells (Tran'rek), Troll Temper (Trenton Lighthammer) and Divino-matic Rod (Chief Engineer Bilgewhizzle; one guide says you need to kill Sergeant Bly for the rod).
  • Tanaris: The Prophecy of Mosh'aru (Yeh'kinya), for both Mosh'aru tablets.
  • Dustwallow Marsh: Tiara of the Deep (Tabetha), for Velratha's tiara.
  • Blasted Lands: Nekrum's Medallion (Thadius Grimshade), step 4 of 7.
  • Thousand Needles: Gahz'rilla (Wizzle Brassbolts), for Gahz'rilla's Electrified Scale. The reward is the Carrot on a Stick.

One guide also lists a Horde quest, The Spider God, that our Forever source doesn't have: to verify. Quest levels differ between sources: to verify.

Watch out

  • Antu'sul pulls when you get close.
  • Zum'rah's graves: open too many and zombies come out.
  • Gahz'rilla's knockback: keep your back to a wall.
  • Experience: the Oct 1 beta build cut the extra dungeon-quest experience by 50%.

In Tanaris. One source gives the portal at 38.7, 19.5, another guide gives 39, 18: roughly the same spot, checked in game at launch.
What level should you be for Zul'Farrak?
The Group Finder offers it from level 42. Sources disagree on the entry level (39 or 35) and dungeon lists disagree on the range, so we confirm at launch.
What is the last boss of Zul'Farrak?
Chief Ukorz Sandscalp. Ruuzlu is handled during the same fight. (Classic data, to verify.)
Is Zul'Farrak in the WoW Forever beta?
It was not among the dungeons announced for the Oct 1 beta build, and the beta stops at level 30. One site has published data read from the beta client; the tactics on this page are Classic data, to verify.
