The Temple of Atal'Hakkar is not playable in the beta (level cap 30). The description below comes from pre-launch data (game files and guides) and the original game's version of this dungeon; we check each point in game at launch and update this page.
Who it's for
- Groups of 5.
- Both factions: one starting quest each (Horde and Alliance), and six quests open to everyone.
The route, in plain words
In the original game:
- Atal'alarion (optional) is the first boss. You summon him by activating six serpent statues.
- Six troll protectors (Loro, Hukku, Zul'lor, Zolo, Mijan, Gasher): all six must die before you can reach Jammal'an.
- Jammal'an the Prophet and Ogom the Wretched.
- The green drakes (Dreamscythe and Weaver, then Hazzas and Morphaz) come after Jammal'an.
- Shade of Eranikus. Clear all the dragonkin first.
Also in the original game: Spawn of Hakkar, and the Avatar of Hakkar (optional), summoned with the Egg of Hakkar from the Screecher Spirits chain.
Sources disagree on which bosses Forever keeps: one lists eight (with the Avatar of Hakkar and the four drakes), another lists six (with Spawn of Hakkar, Ogom and a Shade of Hakkar). We check the list and the order in game at launch.
The bosses in one line each
- Atal'alarion (optional): a frontal cone, Sweeping Slam. Players knocked up take fall damage.
- Spawn of Hakkar: tank-and-spank, with Acid of Hakkar.
- Jammal'an the Prophet and Ogom the Wretched: kill Ogom first, he has less health. Flamestrike, Hex of Jammal'an, Curse of Weakness.
- Dreamscythe, Weaver, Hazzas and Morphaz: pull them in pairs, against a wall.
- Shade of Eranikus: no summon needed. Deep Slumber, War Stomp and Corrosive Acid Breath. Drops the Essence of Eranikus.
- Avatar of Hakkar (optional): summoned with the Egg of Hakkar. No tactics in our sources.
Quests to grab before you go
Take these before entering, or you'll run it twice:
- Stonard, Swamp of Sorrows (Horde): The Temple of Atal'Hakkar (Fel'Zerul), 20 Fetishes of Hakkar. Last step of a chain that starts with Pool of Tears.
- Stormwind (Alliance): Into The Temple of Atal'Hakkar (Brohann Caskbelly), 10 Atal'ai Tablets. Comes after Rhapsody's Tale.
- Tanaris (both): Into the Depths and Secret of the Circle (Marvon Rivetseeker), and The God Hakkar (Yeh'kinya), last step of a chain that starts with Screecher Spirits.
- The Hinterlands (both): Jammal'an the Prophet (the Atal'ai Exile), for the Head of Jammal'an.
- The Barrens, then Un'Goro (both): Zapper Fuel, from Liv Rizzlefix to Larion: 5 Atal'ai Haze.
- Inside the dungeon: the Essence of Eranikus drops from the Shade and starts The Essence of Eranikus.
The wording of the Secret of the Circle objective differs between two versions of the same source: to verify.
Watch out
- Swimming: the entrance is underwater, on the island.
- No shortcut to Jammal'an: the six troll protectors must all die first.
- Shade of Eranikus puts players to sleep with Deep Slumber.
- Experience: one source says dungeon quests give much more experience than before, especially on a first run; values may still change before launch.
