In the graphics menu first

  • Turn off: motion blur, dynamic resolution, and the in-game vertical sync (use your graphics driver's sync or G-Sync / FreeSync instead).
  • Render scale: keep 100%.
  • Frame cap: a few frames under your screen's refresh rate (for example 141 on a 144 Hz screen).
  • Then pick the preset that keeps you smooth in a busy city, and fine-tune with a profile below.

Three ready profiles

Type the lines in chat one by one, or paste them in your Config.wtf to keep them forever (see below). A profile is too long for a single macro (255 characters max), so we don't give it as one.

Camera

  • Zoom the camera out much further.

Make your settings stick

  1. Close the game.
  2. Open your WoW Forever install folder, then WTF, then Config.wtf with a text editor.
  3. Add one line per setting, like SET farclip "5000", and save.
  4. If settings still reset: right-click Config.wtf, check it is not read-only, and keep the WTF folder out of cloud-sync folders. An addon can reset them too: keep to WoW Forever addons that work.

What are the best graphics settings for WoW Forever?
Start from the in-game preset that keeps you at a steady frame rate, then turn off motion blur and dynamic resolution, keep render scale at 100% and cap your frames a little under your screen's refresh rate. Our three profiles below go further with console commands.
Why do my WoW Forever settings keep resetting?
Settings live in the WTF folder of your game install. If an addon, a cloud-sync folder or a read-only file blocks it, they reset. Close the game, check that Config.wtf is not read-only, and put your SET lines there so they load every time.
How do I make console settings permanent?
Most /console settings are saved on logout. To be sure, close the game and add them to WTF/Config.wtf as SET lines, for example: SET farclip "5000".
What should SpellQueueWindow be in WoW Forever?
A common rule is your latency plus about 100 ms. Lower values feel more responsive with good ping; too low and your next spell won't queue.
