Confirmed in ForeverAt a glance
The irradiated gnome capital under Dun Morogh: 5 bosses and a rare, long corridors and lots of machines. A back door opens with the Workshop Key.
A whole gnome city full of leaky machines and walking bombs. Honestly? I'd sell tickets.
Who it's for
- Alliance players: most quests, from Ironforge, Kharanos and Stormwind.
- Horde players: Rig Wars and the Chief Engineer Scooty chain, which also opens the way in.
- Both factions: A Fine Mess and the Grime-Encrusted Ring quests.
The route, in plain words
- The trogg cave near the entrance. Talk to Blastmaster Emi Shortfuse to start the trogg waves; Grubbis and his pet Chomper come with them.
- The Hall of Gears. Viscous Fallout is on the lower level.
- The Launch Bay. Electrocutioner 6000 is on the top platform. He drops the Workshop Key, which opens a back door at the north end of the outer map (one source).
- The Engineering Labs. Crowd Pummeler 9-60.
- Tinker's Court. Mekgineer Thermaplugg, the last boss. The rare Dark Iron Ambassador can be nearby, but doesn't always spawn.
Boss order as given by the beta guides; we check it in game at launch.
The bosses in one line each
- Grubbis: kill the pet Chomper first. Stuns and fears work.
- Viscous Fallout: immune to frost (one source). Toxic Volley deals nature damage over time, and it splits into small oozes (one source).
- Electrocutioner 6000: Megavolt and Chain Bolt, so spread out. Sources disagree on whether you can interrupt them: to verify.
- Crowd Pummeler 9-60: Arcing Smash hits a small area and he tramples. Tank him back to a wall, casters stay at range.
- Dark Iron Ambassador (rare): summons Burning Servants. Interrupt his Fireball (to verify).
- Mekgineer Thermaplugg: ranged kill the Walking Bombs. His Knock Away resets threat, so the tank taunts him back. More bomb machines start at 50% and 20%; the buttons on the pillars pause the bombs. These three points come from one source (to verify).
Quests to grab before you go
Take these before entering, or you'll run it twice:
- Ironforge (Alliance): Save Techbot's Brain! (Techbot is outside the dungeon), Castpipe's Task then Data Rescue, Essential Artificials and The Grand Betrayal (kill Thermaplugg).
- Kharanos, Dun Morogh (Alliance): The Day After then Gnogaine (done outside), and The Only Cure is More Green Glow (done inside).
- Stormwind (Alliance): Gyrodrillmatic Excavationators.
- Orgrimmar (Horde): Rig Wars, and Chief Engineer Scooty then Gnomer-gooooone!, which ends with Scooty in Booty Bay.
- Inside, both factions: A Fine Mess, an escort of Kernobee out of the Dormitory, turned in to Scooty in Booty Bay. Dark Iron Agents drop the Grime-Encrusted Ring, which unlocks the repeatable Sparklematic 5200! in the Clean Room.
Sources disagree on quest levels (20-28 in some, 26-30 in another) and on how many quests there are: to verify.
Watch out
- Thermaplugg's Knock Away resets threat (one source): the tank needs a taunt ready.
- Grab the Workshop Key from Electrocutioner 6000 if you want the back door.
- Group size: one source also mentions a 10-player mode with a "Mechanical Menagerie" boss, with no details. To verify.
- Beta limit: the beta stopped at level 30, so nothing above it was tested in game.
- Experience: in the beta, dungeon quests give more experience than kills; the Oct 1 patch halved the extra quest experience, and kill experience was raised by about 20% on Oct 8.
